TREND-CORE: EAMONN FREEL & LYNSKI explores the acceleration of microtrends in the age of artificial intelligence
In the future, everything will be a trend for 15 seconds
In our rapidly evolving digital landscape, the influence of artificial intelligence (AI) on everyday life is becoming increasingly profound. This piece explores how AI is transforming the nature of microtrends, particularly in the realm of personal aesthetics and fashion. As augmented reality (AR) integrates deeper into our daily interactions, digital make-up is emerging as a significant aspect of self-expression. Face filters on social media allow us to experiment with and adopt new looks instantly, without the physical constraints of traditional make-up. This shift is not merely superficial; it signifies a deeper change in how we construct and convey our identities. This hyper-accelerated fashion cycle also questions the sustainability and psychological impact of such rapid changes.
In the future, everything will be a trend for 15 seconds will be shown at MoMu’s exhibition Masquerade, Make-up & Ensor from the 28th of September and continue until the 2nd of February.
