HARD DRESSING by BETSY JOHNSON
Amid Paris Fashion Week, Betsy Johnson captivated a community with the final iteration of the HARD DRESSING project, presenting it as a one-night-only exhibition at Galerie Sultana.
HARD DRESSING, initially rooted in Johnson’s upbringing in Grimsby, has evolved into an expansive exploration of hair and class in contemporary society. Following a radical live-streamed installation and performance, the project has now culminated in the release of its much-anticipated catalog, which made its public debut during Sunday’s ephemeral exhibition.

The catalog is a blend of glossy images, step-by-step instructions, and social commentary, offering satirical insights into identity and the challenges of being a young business owner. Presented within the art space, paired with the transformation each copy underwent, the catalog is beyond a commercial booklet but a destroyed and overused object.
