For Beauty Papers Issue Seven GLAMOUR hair stylist Soichi collaborated with photographer Jamie Morgan on Fly: a Little Richard inspired tribute to peacockery.


BP:What was the last beautiful thing you saw?
S: Cherry blossom.

BP: What was the idea or the inspiration behind your shoot for Beauty Papers?
S: Little Richard, James Brown.

BP: How did you approach the hair?
S: I was trying to get into the characters, imagining what they would do if they were here.

BP: Tell us one of your favourite hair techniques.
S: Different ways of back combining.

BP: Current kit hero product?
S: EVO powder wax.

BP: Do you have a favourite hair gadget?
S: My mini crimper.

BP: What does the word glamour mean to you?
S: Somebody who is fascinating… who keeps you obsessed.

BP: What is your first memory of glamour?
S: The 80s and 90s club scenes in Japan.

BP: What is the future of glamour?

S: Individuality.

BP: Living, dead, real or imaginary … who has the best hair-do?

S: Little Richard, James Brown… at the moment!
