ANNE SOPHIE COSTA
Beauty Papers: What was the last beautiful thing you saw?
Anne Sophie Costa: I just got back from Myanmar, must say that I saw a lot of beautiful things there.
BP: What was the idea or the inspiration behind your shoot for Beauty Papers?
The idea for the shoot was to find unexpected beauty, distorting the usual glamour palette, in to colours like flat grey, in order to appear distant and perhaps transcend the everyday. Slightly mysterious and somehow idealised, but not to the extent that it is no longer possible to identify with the person.
BP: How did you approach the make-up?
ASC: I approached the make up in a classic way, and then distorted it.
BP: Tell us one of your favourite make up techniques.
ASC: One of my favourites of all time is to accomplish an eyeliner that adapts to each person, so they look themselves. And that technique requires a deep observation of the person’s eyes, to read their right line… see how much can you push the flick!
BP: Current kit hero product?
BP: What is your favourite black?
ASC: Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner.
BP: What is your favourite red?
ASC: YSL Dessin Des Levres Lip Styler lip liner.
BP: What does the word glamour mean to you?
BP: What is your first memory of glamour?
ASC: My first memory of Glamour was living in Spain in the 90’s where all the girls used to glam them selves up before going out! Was quite interesting.
